Zane Clearwater is working as a security guard at a carnival when he and his sister, Lettie witness a murder. Seeing someone killed in front of you is troubling enough, but seeing his sister’s reaction, Zane knows that his sister is somehow involved. Zane hoped to leave his troubled past in the past. But this murder has brought his past to the forefront.

Zane, along with the police have questions, but when Lettie leaves, Zane vows to do whatever her can to bring her home and get to the bottom of what she is involved with. His quest to find his sister takes him to new places, uncovers harsh truths, reveals secrets, and puts them all in the path of danger.

I was first introduced to Zane Clearwater in Bloodlines. Although, this book would work nicely as a stand-alone, Bloodlines a great book and I highly recommend reading that book first.

This proved to be a fast read for me and I appreciated that the author did not have long drawn-out scenes. The pacing was spot on, and I could feel Zane’s desperation to locate his sister jumping off the page. There is tension, a sense of dread and a fair amount of action in the book. There are some twists and turns, and nothing felt as if it came out of left field.

If you have not read Lynn Lipinski, you are missing out!

Well written, dark, and well thought out!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
