This booked worked very well as a stand-alone book for me! The Twisted Dead had me fully invested in the plot from the very beginning. I found this to be a fast read that was not only entertaining but fun!

Kiera has a unique ability to not only see the dead/ghosts but to talk to them as well. She helps them to move on while working at a local cemetery. Keira, Zoe and Mason (her friends and helpers) get invited to the crumbling Crispin estate. Their host is Dane Crispin needs her help. He has no idea just who much help he really needs. Upon entering Dane’s home, Kiera knew instantly that the house was full of restless spirits. Ones that have no intention of leaving.

This was a fun paranormal mystery/horror book. I didn’t find it to be scary but found it to be creepy. The ghosts were scary (to me) but some may find them to be spooky. They do set a chilling vibe and the graveyard and haunted house creates atmosphere.

I enjoyed meeting Kiera, Zoe and Mason and although I did not read the first two books in the series, I didn’t feel like I was missing too much. Sure, there is backstory and how she met her friends which I would have loved to have known/explored but that just gives me incentive to go back and read the previous books.

I enjoy Darcy Coates books. I find them to be gripping, well written, and hard to put down. For me, this book excelled in being creepy and spooky. It was full of tension and ghostly vibes. I enjoyed Kiera’s character and her abilities. This made for an interesting and fun read.

Looking forward to reading more of her books in the future.

Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
