Their Angel’s Cry is the second book in a a gripping new series by Shannon Hollinger. This book had me from the very first page and did not let go! I loved the setting, the atmosphere, the mystery, and the characters.
A horrific discovery had been made on Rattlesnake Mountain and Chief Maggie Riley takes the call. Bodies have been found by hikers and when Maggie makes it to the snowy location, she also finds a tiny baby and a dog in the underbrush. Who killed the family? What was the motive? With a storm brewing, Maggie is on the hunt for answers and a killer!
Atmospheric, tense, well written, and hard to put down! Maggie is still dealing with the fallout from The Girl Who Lied and the town’s reaction to her. She keeps doing her job with quiet determination. Plus, the character’s secrets play a role in this book as well.
I enjoyed the tension in this book as well as the atmosphere. The snow, the small town and a killer set the stage. The main characters are also a big draw and have me wanting more of them, their backstories and their relationships to each other.
This is a promising new series that is only getting better. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
