One thing that is true is that this is a gripping, shocking, and hard to put down book. Lisa Jewell has delivered yet again!
Alix Summers is celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at a local pub with some friends. Josie Fair is also at the pub celebrating her, you guessed it, forty-fifth birthday with her much older husband. They are birthday twins as Josie puts it. They bump into each other again a few days later, Josie tells Alix that she has been following her podcasts and feels that she and her life might be an interesting story for Alix to tell.
This was a twisted and gripping book that kept me on my toes. I had to keep turning the pages to read what was going to happen next. The characters make some ‘interesting choices’, and I enjoyed being a fly on the wall, captivated by how easily Josie inserted herself into Alix’s life. I enjoyed the POV of both Alix and Josie. This was a fun one! From the title, you know that there is going to be some unreliability and lying in this book. Hold onto you hats because, the trick is to figure out who is lying, who is telling the truth, is anyone being honest? Lots of twisted characters in this riveting book. Everyone is a mess in this book. There are also some disturbing characters as well which could be triggering for some readers.
Gripping, twisted, shocking and hard to put down! This is a great book for book clubs as there is a lot to discuss in this book.
