Atmospheric, twist filled and hard to put down! The Haven is the second book in the Outer Banks Secrets series by Nicola Marsh. If you have not read The Retreat, the first book in the series, I highly recommend it. It is a fantastic fast read and sets up this book perfectly. Plus, you really need to know what happened in that book to fully enjoy this book.

Rylee lives with her grandmother, Leah and her father, John at the Haven. It is a refuge for those who need a place to stay. Rylee wants to continue doing her grandmother’s work, but she also wants to spread her wings. Plus, she has questions about her mother who left her when she was an infant.

Her quest for answers brings her the Arcania, a Gothic mansion with a dark history. She is fascinated, but Leah is horrified that her granddaughter has gone there. Leah once worked there in the orchards and knows a few of the secrets that lurk in the dark shadows of the home.

This was a fast read which did not disappoint! This book is told through two timelines and POV’s, giving readers glimpses into the past, providing backstory, motivations, and insights. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the twists, the tension, and the dynamics between the characters. I did not see the reveal coming and enjoyed how everything played out.

Well written, suspenseful, and atmospheric.

I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own
