*CRACK* That is the sound of Megan Mirada hitting it out of the ball park with Daughter of Mine! Talk about an addictive page turner! I was on the edge of my seat flipping the pages as fast as I could as the danger mounted, and secrets were uncovered!

It hasn’t rained and the water levels are depleted in Mirror Lake. Hazel Sharp, the daughter of Mirror Lake’s long time police detective, Perry Holt has returned home for his funeral. Hazel didn’t get the warm and fuzzies from her brothers, instead she received simmering glares and sharp words. Hazel’s mother disappeared years ago leaving her behind and Perry raised her as his own. Now that she has inherited his home, tensions are mounting, and some characters’ anger is mounting. Throw in the recent discovery of a submerged car and you have yourself a hard to put down, suspenseful thriller which is oozing with atmosphere!

I loved the mystery of this lake as well as the tense family dynamics of the Holt family members. Secrets are emerging and not everyone is happy about that. I felt for Hazel, having her mother disappear with only a note titled “Daughter of Mine” left behind. Daughter of Mine was a phrase her mother often used when talking to her. Now that Hazel is home, she is reminded of the past while having to deal with things that are occurring in the present. Not only does she have family issues to deal with, but strange things have also been happening….

I LOVED this book. I loved the atmosphere, the tension, the mounting danger, and the many mysteries in this book. I loved putting on my super sleuthing hat while trying to figure out who was behind everything. I was so far from the truth that it wasn’t even funny. But I love it when that happens. I love being shocked by the twists and reveals and this book had many of them.

Megan Miranda delivered and dazzled with this book! I can’t wait to read what she writes next!
