Secrets and lies are the name of the game in this gripping and twist filled thriller from Kathryn Croft! The Girl in Room 12 kept me on my toes and turning the pages. Who can be trusted?? That is the question. The only thing that is certain is that The Girl in Room 12 is dead!

The local news has reported that a woman named Alice was found dead in a room at the River Walk Hotel. The same hotel that makes the room key card that Hannah has found in her husband, Max’s pocket. How did he get the card? Does he know this woman? He has been distant and testy lately, is he having an affair? Is he a killer? Is her mind jumping to all the wrong conclusions? Max denies knowing the woman, but Hannah knows that something isn’t right and sets out to get some answers.

I enjoyed the mystery of this book and the well thought out plot. Croft created an interesting group of characters who had distinct personalities and relationships with Hannah and/or Max. I wondered throughout who could be trusted and who was telling the truth. There are several characters who had me wondering if they were responsible for Alice’s death. I did my best to figure out whodunit. At times I thought it could be various people. Who amongst them would want Alice dead and why? Poor Hannah went through the ringer with feelings of doubt, grief, loss, anger, betrayal, anxiety, and acceptance.

As the book progressed, I enjoyed the mounting sense of tension and danger that came into play. Was Hannah getting herself into danger? Would she learn the truth? I had to know! I found this to be a gripping and hard to put down book.

Well written, well thought out, entertaining, gripping and tense!
