The synopsis is right, “appearances can be deceiving.” But what is not deceiving is the brilliant writing and storytelling of Gemma Rogers. I found this book to be instantly gripping, hard to put down, well thought out and pure reading enjoyment. I love books that keep me on my toes, turning the pages and wanting to know what is going to happen next! Gemma Rogers delivered all of those things with The Good Wife.

Chloe tries to follow the rules that her husband, Tom, has laid down. He picks out her clothing, how many bites she can take of her food, and when to get her hair done. He wants her to be a “good wife”. But is he a good husband???

After a fateful meeting with a woman named Savanah in a restroom at her husband’s company event, Chloe comes up with a plan! But will she be able to pull the plan off? I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen.

Gemma Rogers knocked it out of the ballpark with this book. I enjoyed the pacing, nothing felt rushed or drawn out. I also enjoyed the characters. I felt for Chloe and had a good time booing and hissing at the vile and controlling Tom. Rogers did a great job showing how Tom isolated and controlled Chloe, how he left her feeling trapped with no way. Rogers also did a brilliant job of showing Chloe’s feelings of isolation, desperation, and the joy of having small wins.

Gripping, shocking, hard to put down and tense! I can’t wait to read what Gemma Rogers writes next!

Thank you to Boldwood books and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
