What a wonderful book that touches on problem solving, science, learning, drive, and confidence. I enjoyed the wonderful illustrations and the messages.
Lilo becomes concerned about his plants when he learns his family will be taking a month-long vacation. He worries about how his plants will get water and comes up with several ideas for caring for his plants while he is away.
I enjoyed how the book showed Lilo’s determination, his gumption, and drive to solve the watering problem. I thought the author did a great job showing Lilo’s concern for his plants, his ingenuity, his disappointment when his experiments did not work as he planned, his hope, his pride when he made progress and his thoughtfulness. He faced some obstacles but always had his family’s support and encouragement. Along the way, he learned some important messages which helped him not only grow as an inventor but also helped his self-confidence grow.
I loved the messages of never giving up, learning from failure, listening to others, working with others, and keeping an open mind. What great lessons for readers of all ages.
