Two women, summer, a secret, and love……
The Lost Letters from Martha’s Vineyard was a captivating and wonderful book told in two timelines. I found it to be beautifully written, well thought out, and hard to put down. I enjoyed the mystery, the two timelines, and the characters. Plus, the beginning of this book got my attention and had me wanting more!
Kit O’Neill was packing up her deceased grandmother’s belongings when she discovered a box that revealed that her grandmother was in fact, Mercy Welles. a glamourous actress who vanished without a trace. Wanting to know more, Kit finds herself in Martha’s Vineyard.
This book is told in two timelines. One is in the late 1950’s where Mercy Welles is an Oscar nominated actress at the top of her game until she disappears. The other time is told in 2018 when Kit discovers her grandmother’s secret past. I loved getting to know both women and their bond.
I love a good mystery and this book had it. Plus, there were the letters that Mercy wrote. The Lost Letters from Martha’s Vineyard also had secrets, the search for the truth, betrayal, wonderful descriptions, revelations, secrets, twists, and romance. Michael Callahan did a fabulous job of transporting me to the glamorous world of old Hollywood and to the picturesque island of Martha’s Vineyard. I loved being a fly on the wall in both timelines.
Well written, gripping, mysterious, and captivating.
I received a copy of this from Mariner Books through a goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
