The search for answers continues….
The Final Truth is the third book in the Rachel McKenzie mystery series. Rachel is investigating a case that hits a little close to home! When a body is found in a cemetery, Rachel learns that the victim is connected to a case which her mother was involved in years ago. Rachel has always been haunted by her mother’s disappearance and is determined to get to the truth! But just as determined as she is to get to the truth, there is someone who wants her to drop the case!
With threats and danger looming, Rachel is not willing to give up. She is being helped by Selena MacDonald, a local officer who is just as determined as Rachel is to get to the truth. I have enjoyed how Rachel has always been determined and driven to learn the truth about her mother’s disappearance and her father’s possible involvement in her mom’s disappearance. In this book we see her interactions with her incarcerated father and there is also a blast from her past (Angus) who comes back into her orbit.
This book had a nice number of twists and turns along with a reveal which provides Rachel with answers. Plus, the setting in Scotland provides atmosphere and I enjoyed the parks where Rachel is outside hiking. There is also a nice amount of tension, danger, and mystery to keep readers interest piqued.
Chilling, tense, gripping, well written, well thought out, and brimming with mystery!
