Dark, atmospheric, chilling, riveting, and mysterious, The Glass Man is the second book in the Asker Series. Detective Leonore (Leo) Asker is head of the Department of Lost Souls, a department that investigates odd/strange cases. As I mentioned, this is the second book in the series and I highly recommend reading, The Mountain King first. It’s a great book and provides readers with more of Leo’s backstory. Having said that, this book will work nicely as a stand-alone novel.
A body with alarming injuries has been found on Leo’s father’s property and he is being held as the main suspect. He needs Leo’s help in clearing his name. Meanwhile, Martin Hill has gone to a secluded estate to write a biography on Gunnar Irving, a businessman. While at the estate, he hopes to see the abandoned astronomical observatory said to be on the property.
This is a dark Scandinavian thriller that is oozing with tension, atmosphere, mystery, and danger. I enjoyed that this book deals with cases/mysteries that are a little different, a little off the beaten path if you will. There is a lot going on in this book and there were a few twists and turns along the way as well. I found this book to be well thought out and I did enjoy how things came together in the end. My one complaint is that this book is on the longer side and at times I felt its length.
