Was this book music to my ears??????? Well, it wasn’t quite the one hit wonder that I was hoping for. Plus, coming in at 528 pages it was a bit long. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind long books, but this one could have lost about a hundred pages and still told the story. So what is the story:
Blake Logan, a college junior, suffers a heartbreaking breakup and heads to her parent’s Tahoe home. When she gets there, she finds Wyatt Graham, a budding rock star/musician, at the home as well. Wyatt hurt Blake’s pride when she was 16 and he was 20, after she confessed her crush to him. Plus, there was that hook up/almost hook up where he pretended not to remember the next day. UGH! Plus, he is 4 years older than her. Was she underage when this happened? I can’t recall but he pretended not to remember it was icky.
But I digress, both circle each other while thinking about each other. They have an attraction to each other, but their parents are friends. So, they have lots of conversations – lots! They also have some racy conversations and thoughts about each other. I’m not giving away the farm here; it’s a romance book but keep in mind that this is not your mother’s bodice ripper Harlequin romance with Fabio on the cover. This one has some steam. This book also deals with a heartbreaking tragedy in which I felt the author did a good job handling.
For me, this book was too long, the characters didn’t feel too mature at times, lots of talk about sex, and lots of teasing. I didn’t dislike the characters, but I didn’t quite warm up to them either. I have read another book by Elle Kennedy and enjoyed that book much more so I am guessing this is a one off for me. As I enjoyed Good Girl Complex, I would be open to reading another book by this author.
Thank you to Bloom Books and Edelweiss who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
