Three online book club members, Hope, Ash, and Caro, have been communicating and discussing books online for two years. They have discussed getting together in person and have finally decided to make that leap at meet at Sonnet Resort at Eden National Park. When they meet, they hit it off but when one of them vanishes, the secrets that each one has threaten to bubble to the surface.
I enjoyed the first part of the book, and it had me on the edge of my seat. I was intrigued about each woman and the secret she harbored. I enjoyed how they met online and then met in person. I was also wondering what happened to the missing person and how this would be resolved.
The second half of the book reveals some secrets but it felt disjointed to me. The second half of the book did not flow as nicely as the first part of the book. Things felt a little all over the place and I wondered if this was deliberate as the women and investigators were scrambling to come up with answers. I’m not sure if this was the case, but the second half of this book was not as strong as the first half in my opinion. This was still enjoyable, but the second half could not carry the momentum off the first half of the book. What did work was the setting and the atmosphere in this book.
Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
