Casey is a twelve-year-old girl with a tumor and is undergoing therapy for her brain tumor at the hospital. She just met her father and she and her mother will be living with him while she receives treatment at a local hospital.
Dan is Casey’s father. On the surface, he appears to be happy and social, but he is lonely as well. Dan recently met Casey for the first time and now goes with his daughter to the hospital for her treatments.
The hospital is where they all meet….
All the characters are dealing with their own complex issues. The author handles their issues with grace and care. This book reminds readers that what you see on the outside is not necessarily what is going on inside.
This was an emotional book which had me singing “Owner of a lonely heart” by Yes repeatedly while reading it. I enjoyed how things unfolded and how the owners learned to open up to each other. Plus, Bear the dog was a scene stealer!
