Gripping from the very beginning, Simone St. James never disappoints! This book was atmospheric, gothic and with a captivating mystery.

Vermont, 1950
Idlewild Hall is the place for troubled, illegitimate, and unwanted girls. They are dumped there by their parents and their circumstances are bleak. Rumor surround Idlewild that it is haunted. There four roommates will bond until one of them disappears.

Journalist Fiona Sheridan’s sister’s body was found twenty years ago lying in the fields near Idlewild Hall. Her sister’s boyfriend was convicted of her murder, but Fiona couldn’t help thinking that something was missing. When she learns that Idlewild is being restored, she decides to write a story about it.

A shocking discovery is made, and the past will have its say once and for all.

This was such a well done, well written and well thought out. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration. I loved the atmosphere and the gothic vibes. Such a great book, I’m glad I gave it a listen!
