Gripping, pulse pounding, shocking and hard to put down, Stolen Mothers kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat! Nikki Hunt is back and this time she is having a little bit of a blast from the past! A serial killer which she encountered years ago who spared her life while she was pregnant with her daughter, Lacey. Now this vicious killer is back, and Nikki is not only hunting him yet again, but she is also burdened by the guilt she feels because of her encounter with him years earlier.

This time it is personal, and Nikki vows he will not get away this time. She is up against some resistance and must stand strong. I have always admired how Stacy Green has written Nikki to be both strong and vulnerable. Nikki’s reactions and emotions are believable, and I wanted to give her a hug when she was feeling guilty. Readers are privy to past events and the current day investigation. This book is heavy on Nikki and the investigation work in both timelines. I did miss seeing more of Nikki’s private life in this book (we do see Rory and Lacey but not as much as in earlier books).

This series continues to keep me glued to the pages and wanting more. I enjoy the characters, their banter, the complexity of not only their lives but their personalities, and the cases investigated. As with the other books in this series, I enjoyed Stacy Green’s writing, the pacing and timelines. I also enjoyed the atmosphere, tension, mounting dread, danger and suspense in this book.

I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series!
