Holy Moly this was a thrilling page turner!!!! Gripping, shocking, tension filled and hard to put down! Tami Hoag killed it with Bad Liar! I was completely engrossed in this twist filled, suspenseful, captivating read. There is a lot going on in the Louisianna bayou and Nick Fourcade and his wife, Annie Broussard are both investigating cases that have them scratching their heads, interrogating many suspects, and finding that there is a tangled web of secrets and lies in the Parrish. This is the third book in the Broussard and Fourcade series but works perfectly as a stand-alone.

In this book B’Lynn Fontenot, a mother will want answers concerning her missing adult son who was once a hometown sports hero but due to a horrible injury, found himself addicted to a pain medication. He had been making changes to his life for the better when she stopped receiving contact from him. She asks Annie Broussard for help in finding out what happened to her son.

Nick Fourcade finds himself investigating the murder of a man whose body was dumped on the side of the road. A man who is unrecognizable due to being shot in the face. The only lead he has leads him to another man, Marc Mercier, who left home to go on a fishing trip with his brother and never showed up.

Both Annie and Nick will find that they will need to wade through a river of lies, deception, and secrets to get to the truth. This is a very dangerous thing to do in the bayou and as the suspense, sense of danger, and tension mounted, I was on the edge of my seat wanting more.

I loved how well thought out this book was. There is a lot going on and quite a few characters, but everything was easy to follow. Tami Hoag created an interesting bunch of characters ranging from likeable to very unlikeable. I enjoyed doing my own super sleuthing along with Annie and Nick. There are quite a few suspects but deterring whodunit, will be easier said than done. Just when I thought I had things figured out, Tami Hoag threw in a twist and another small reveal which had me reeling.

I enjoyed how family ties, secrets, lies, old traumas, jealousy, camaraderie, power, manipulation, and guilt came into play in this book. This book also had some humor, some engaging banter, and pulled on my heartstrings. I appreciated how Hoag showed the character’s emotions, their self-doubt, their dedication, and their courage.

This was a riveting and page turning police procedural. I loved Tami Hoag’s writing, the pacing, the well thought out plot, the suspense, and the tension in this book. I can’t wait to read future books in this series.

I listened to the audiobook and thought Hillary Huber did an excellent job narrating this book. She really brought the characters and this book to life!

Highly Recommend.
