Where He Left Me is oozing with atmosphere! It has a claustrophobic feel to it. I could feel the isolation and aloneness dripping from the pages as Sadie Sheridan waits for her husband, Felix Graham to return from a work trip. They are both college professors on sabbatical and staying at his family home known as Hemlock House. It is locate in an isolated and remote mountain.

Sadie is alone at Hemlock House as a storm bears down and she notices two trespassers on the property. I could feel Sadie’s uncertainty, her worry over her husband not being there, her inability to contact him, the concern about the trespassers and feelings of isolation. Where He Left Me has an eerie and heavy vibe to it. Not knowing what happened to her husband, the worsening storm, and the appearance of the trespassers is enough to have the hairs standing up on the back of ones neck. I thought the author did a tremendous job of setting the stage and vibe in this book. After Sadie decides to let in the trespassers into Hemlock House, the vibe of the book changes as Sadie has even more questions than before.

This book is slow moving and I struggle with slow burns. But I hung in there as this book has a mesmerizing feel to it. This book touches on relationships, marriage, loneliness, secrets, and family secrets to name a few. As the book progressed, truths are learned, secrets are exposed while quite a few twists and revelations occurred. The book went in a direction that I did not see coming. Overall, an enjoyable book but a little too slow moving for me at times.
