The Liar I Married by D.K. Hood – Blog Tour 8/27/25 @bookouture @DKHood_Author

Gripping, shocking, thrilling, and hard to put down! The Liar I Married: A totally addictive psychological thriller with a mind-blowing twist is a stand-alone book by D.K. Hood. If you have read one of my D.K. Hood’s fabulous series, then you know here wonderful writing, well thought out plots, and thrilling mysteries. In The Liar I Married: A totally addictive psychological thriller with a mind-blowing twist she tells the story of a woman who was in a horrific accident comes out of a coma and no one will tell her what happened or where her children are.

Jessie wakes up to see a nurse standing over her bed. The nurse informs her that she has been in a car accident and is recuperating under her care. Initially Jessie has a very limited memory as to what led up to the accident and where she was going. She also wonders where her husband and children are currently. As the book progresses, readers are given snippets of Jessies life leading up to the accident. Readers learn of Jessie’s life with her husband who is seldom home and appears to be spending all his time with his co-worker, Rebecca. Readers also get to see Jessie and her road to recovery and her interactions with her husband and those who come to visit her.

D.K. Hood is a master at having readers wonder who is being honest, who is reliable and who is dishonest. I wrestled with you was the liar in this book. So many questions swirled through my head about the accident and about Jessie’s experiences both before the accident and while she was recovering. Just when she feels she has a handle on things, Jessie finds a note that tells her to not trust anyone.

I enjoyed the mounting tension, and the undercurrent of unease Jessie feels as she tries to piece together what happened to her, what she is currently experiencing, and the doubts swirling around in her mind. I felt for Jessie and her struggles to understand her current predicament and wrestle with her reality.

I enjoyed the two timelines and the unraveling of the well thought out plot. There were quite a few characters I wanted to throttle while reading this book. I thought D.K. Hood did a tremendous job of keeping readers and Jessie in the dark and trying to come up with answers.

Wonderfully written, well thought out, gripping and shocking!

*I had both the book and the audiobook. I thought the narrator of the audiobook did a great job of brining this book to life!
