Look Behind You is, are you ready for this, book 29 in the Detectives Kane and Alton series!!!!! The 29th book and this series just keeps getting better and better!
A serial killer is picking off women in a self defense group that Deputy David Kane runs! The women are all vulnerable and live alone or just want to be safe. Raven, known for his dog handling skills is also helping by taking dogs from various shelters and training them to pair with women in town to help them feel safe as well. When one of the women does not show up to meet him, the search begins. Sadly, their search ends tragically.
As another victim is found, married couple – Detectives Kane and Alton, know they have a new killer on their hands. But who and why are they targeting the women in Dave’s self-defense group? Jenna begins looking into the women but comes up with more questions than answers. With a little help from Jo and Carter from the FBI, the investigation ramps up as the weather works against them.
This book was a page turner from the very beginning. I always love putting on my super sleuth hat and trying my best to figure out whodunit. D.K. Hood stumped me in Look Behind You. I love it when this happens! I also loved the tension, the mystery, the suspense, the dread, and the sense of danger in this book. There is never a dull moment as the action is almost nonstop.
Another nice touch was seeing Jenna, Dave, and their team interacting in their private lives and seeing Dave and Jenna’s children growing. This is a well-rounded series, and I love the blending of the personal and professional lives of the characters.
Wonderfully written, well thought out, tense, addictive, and had to put down!
