Taken in the Cold by Roger Stelljes – Blog Tour 11/2/24 @bookouture @RogerStelljes
A Blizzard is on the way but that won’t stop a killer from taking the lives of two people and kidnapping a boy named Teddy! Hold onto your hats folks, because things are about to get dicey! Taken in the Cold is gripping, shocking, well thought out, captivating and tense. I loved the atmosphere. There is something about books which take places in snowy settings that get me every time. I love the chilling atmosphere and tension it provides. This book has a pulse pounding mystery and I was there for it every step of the way.
In Taken in the Cold, Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Braddock have their hands full. There is more going on than meets the eye in this book. As they dig deeper and follow leads, they learn that there is more to be learned as embezzlement also comes into play.
I loved the mystery and the investigation. I enjoyed getting both of their perspectives as they did their investigative work. This is not an easy case, but they pour everything they have into it. I love a well thought out plot and Roger Stelljes nailed it! He had me turning those pages, fully invested and wanting more.
This worked very well as a stand-alone book for me. I have recently listened to the first book in the series, Silenced Girls and thought it was extremely well done. It piqued my interest and when I saw this book was coming out, I jumped at the opportunity to read Taken in the Cold! I was thrilled that I did. I found this book to be well written, well thought out, perfectly plotted and full of tension.
I had both the audiobook and the kindle edition of the book which made for a fully immersive reading experience. I thought the narration on the audiobook was very well done. I am looking forward to reading more of Roger Stelljes books in the future!
Gripping, tense, atmospheric, and riveting!

A Christmas Romance in the Scottish Highlands by Donna Ashcroft – Blog Tour 10/20/24 @bookouture @Donnashc
Sleigh bells are about to ring in the Scottish Highlands as the snow falls, the carriages come out, and a festive feel is in the air! Donna Ashcroft writes heartwarming, charming, and moving romances set in beautiful settings. I’m always excited when I see she has a new book coming out as her writing leaves me with a smile on my face and joy in my heart.
Ella, a talented artist, has a lot on her plate after the death of her father. She is running her stepmother’s cleaning business while getting ready to slip on glass slippers in the annual Cinderella pantomime. Her brothers should be helping, but they become mysteriously ill when asked to help. She is overwhelmed, over worked and could use some help!
Alex is a businessman who is also a talented artist who is in town and finds himself playing Prince Charming to Ella’s Cinderella. He has a lot on his plate, juggling his father’s demands with his own dreams.
When an onstage kiss becomes a little heated….
A Christmas Romance in the Scottish Highlands: A completely addictive Christmas romance set in Scotland is a charming and magical read which channels Cinderella in more ways than one. I loved the setting in the Scottish Highlands. I could feel the chill in the air and the town prepares for the holiday festivities. I also enjoyed both Ella and Alex. Both are artists who are working in different fields. They both have dreams, goals and obstacles in their way. Both are likeable and I rooted for them the entire way. Romance books are all about the journey for me and I loved the journey that Ella and Alex went on both individually and together.
Wonderfully written, well thought out, moving, charming, heartwarming and festive. I loved the Cinderella references, the snowy setting, the drama, and the vivid descriptions.

My Missing Daughter by Ellery Kane – Blog Tour 10/14/24 @bookouture @ElleryKane
A first trip away from home, a daughter who did not return, a frantic mother, secrets, and unanswered questions set the stage for My Missing Daughter. This book kept me on my toes and turning the pages. No matter how old your children are, a parent always worries. This is on full display when Willow and her friend go on a trip Amelia hit the highway in hopes of finishing the book they are writing. It was meant to be a trip of adventure, a trip to finish their book, a trip for exploring. But when a man who was hired to return the van, delivers it to Willow’s mother alarm bells go off. When Amelia returns home, speculation also kicks into overdrive. Don’t even get me started on all the secrets!
I enjoyed getting glimpses into the time Willow and Amelia were on their trip. It was nice seeing what they were doing, how they were getting along, and what they were experiencing. Let’s just say it was A LOT! Another plus is seeing Tracy, Willow’s mother frantically trying to get answers from police about her daughter’s whereabouts. The book goes back and forth between the two storylines which was nice touch and added to the tension in the book.
This book kept me on my toes and each time I thought I had things figured out, I found that I was wrong. I did not see the ending coming and was shocked. I love when that happens. I enjoyed the contrast in personalities and reactions between not only the two friends (Willow and Amelia) but between Tracy and Candice, Amelia’s mothers. I found this to be very realistic, well done and showed how different people react to things differently and in their own ways.
This book was full of tension, secrets, twists, and turns. I was fully invested in learning the truth and as I mentioned, I did not see the ending coming at all. This was also a fast read for me. I had both the book and the audiobook which made for an enjoyable reading experience.
Her Forgotten Shadow by Pamela Fagan Hutchins – Blog Tour 10/10/24 @bookouture @PamelotH
I am wowed yet again by Pamela Fagan Hutchin’s storytelling and her Detective Delaney Pace series! Her Forgotten Shadow kept me on my toes, with my pulse racing, fearing the worst while hoping for the best as Delaney searches for a missing girl while trying to catch a killer. Whew! There is never a dull moment in this gripping and shocking book!
A storm is brewing above the town of Kearny and when a young teenager’s body is found covered in bruises and with a strange tattoo, Delaney is left scratching her head while wanting to dive into the investigation while tiptoeing around other officers. From the start, she knows this is not going to be an easy case, but she is strong, brave, determined and ready to dive in. With Leo helping, she hopes to solve the case ASAP!
I enjoyed the mystery in this case. I was fully invested in learning who and why young teenage girls are being taken. I also enjoyed seeing Delaney in mother mode as she balancing her work and personal life.
I loved the atmosphere of this book. I love the location, and how the elements played a part in this book as well. I also loved the tension between the characters in both their professional and private lives. The sense of dread and danger creep into the book and simmer just below the surface of the book.
Her Forgotten Shadow kept me on my toes and had me turning the pages! Plus, then the ending has me wanting more! I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next!
Wonderfully written, well plotted, perfectly paced, shocking and gripping, Pamela Fagan Hutchins has delivered yet again!
Their Frozen Bones by D.K. Hood -Blog Tour 10/1/24 @bookouture @DKHood_Author
Wowza! D.K. Hood has crafted an addictive, gripping, atmospheric, pulse pounding and thrilling book which had me turning the pages while my pulse pounded! I was instantly drawn into the plot, on the edge of my seat, fingers crossed and feeling the chill in the air! I have not read this entire series but have loved the books in the series that I have read. One thing that D.K. Hood excels at is writing books in a series which work perfectly as stand-alone novels.
I love books that take place in cold snowy places. I also love books that have a ‘trapped’ feeling. Their Frozen Bones: An edge-of-your-seat crime thriller with a jaw-dropping twist, fits that criteria beautifully! Black Rock Falls is serial killer central and in Their Frozen Bones: An edge-of-your-seat crime thriller with a jaw-dropping twist one is luring and killing women, leaving behind their frozen bodies.
Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy, David Kane, have been alerted that a plane has crashed in the snow covered mountains around Black Rock Falls carrying the daughter of Wolfe, who is one of their own. As the desperate search is underway, the bodies of the murdered women are found! Making things more tense, when they find the plane that went down, Julie is missing!!!!!
Whew! This book was full of tension, suspense, danger, and dread. Questions swirled through my mind as the snow swirled through the air. I loved the atmosphere in this book. I could almost feel the cold in the air, while imagining the crunch of the frozen snow under their feet. This book kept me on my toes, turning the pages and loving every second of it.
This proved to be an extremely fast and thrilling read. I did my best super sleuthing while reading, trying to determine whodunit. I don’t always get it right but in this book, I nailed it! I enjoyed the twists, revelations, suspense, mounting danger, and banter between the characters.
D.K. Hood has left me a very happy reader once again! I love her writing, her characters, and the engrossing plots she writes. I can’t wait to read what she writes next!
