The Baby Swap by Daniel Hurst – Blog Tour 2/19/25 @bookouture @dhurstbooks

And….he’s back! Seriously, Does Daniel Hurst ever sleep? Is he chained to his desk? Readers may never know but what I do know is that Daniel Hurst has delivered yet again with The Baby Swap!!! I found this book to be an addictive, gripping, thrilling, fast paced page turner! As with his other books, The Baby Swap is wonderfully written, well thought out, tense, shocking, and hard to put down!

The book begins as two mothers give birth and share a room separated by a privacy curtain with their newborns. A swap is made, and nothing will be the same ever again! Holy Moly! I love that Daniel Hurst was able to pull the wool over my eyes quite a few times while reading this book. Just when I thought I knew where this book was heading, he changed directions on me and left me with my mouth hanging open! I enjoyed the POV of both mothers and learning more about their backstories. The things I learned had my head spinning. Whew!

This book has quite a few twists and one quite a few reveals. There were several times I thought “What did I just read?”. Seriously, there are some jaw-dropping and shocking scenes in this book. There is never a dull moment, never any down time, and never any slow parts. I was completely sucked into this book from the first page until the very last page.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, if Daniel Hurst writes it, I am going to read it!

Her Hiding Place by Shannon Hollinger - Blog Tour 2/2/25 @bookouture @thiswritersays

Her Hiding Place by Shannon Hollinger – Blog Tour 2/2/25 @bookouture @thiswritersays

Gripping, dangerous, intense, and full of dread, Her Hiding Place kept me fully invested and turning the pages! I loved the ‘trapped’ feeling of this book. The looming hurricane, the mystery of why Charlotte is on the run and hoping to hide with her daughter, Alice.

Charlotte accepts a housekeeping job at an island resort and finagles her way into the attic apartment. She keeps her three-year old daughter, Alice, a secret. Hidden away and frequently left all alone, Alice must be silent so that her presence is not detected. Charlotte thought they would be safe there, but when a body is found, Charlotte knows the stakes are high and they may be in danger once again!

I enjoyed not knowing who I could trust at the resort. I could feel Charlotte’s fear, concern, and mistrust jumping off the pages. The suspense and tension are off the hook and only multiply as the storm hits and the staff are trying to evacuate. This book had me on the edge of my seat and my heart beating faster and faster.

I also enjoyed how Shannon Hollinger provided flashbacks to the past so that readers get a better understanding of Charlotte’s life before she went on the run, which left me further intrigued and invested in the plot. The author also threw in quite a few twists, turns and revelations as well with one that left my jaw hanging open.

This was a fast paced, pulse pounding mystery that grabbed my attention from the start and never let go! Shannon Hollinger has delivered once again!

Intriguing, shocking, tension filled and pulse pounding.

I had both the book and the audiobook version of Her Hiding Place which made for a wonderful reading experience. I thought the narrator of the audiobook did a fantastic job.

The Husband by Daniel Hurst - Blog Tour 1/21/25 @bookouture @dhurstbooks

The Husband by Daniel Hurst – Blog Tour 1/21/25 @bookouture @dhurstbooks

Addictive, fast paced, riveting, and hard to put down! Daniel Hurst has entertained, enticed, and captivated with The Husband! Secrets and lies are the name of the game. Just when you think you know someone, you learn that perhaps you really didn’t know them at all! This is the 17th gripping book that I read by Daniel Hurst, and he never lets me down!

Jenny and Lachlan have been married for twenty years and have two children. Life is good and they are happy until Jenny and her daughter watch a documentary about an unsolved murder that took place where Lachlan grew up…

This book is told through the intriguing POV’s of Jenny and Lachlan. I had a blast reading both of their thoughts. Being able to know what each is thinking was one of the highlights of the book for me. I also loved the pacing, the tension, the unease, the twists, revelations, and mounting sense of danger. Hurst shocked me with the ending which I did not see coming. I love it when he does that in his book!

Fans of Hurst will be captivated by this psychological thriller. Those who have not read a book by Hurst before, this is a great one to start with. It’s a bit different from his other books but still has his trademark shocking twists and fast pacing.

Wife, Mother, Liar by Sue Watson - Blog Tour 1/12/25 @bookouture @suewatsonwriter

Wife, Mother, Liar by Sue Watson – Blog Tour 1/12/25 @bookouture @suewatsonwriter

Whew! Give me a second while I collect myself after reading this gripping, shocking, doozy of a book! Holy Cow! Wife, Mother, Liar almost gave me whiplash at the end! Seriously, I did not see that coming at all! What a wild ride full of secrets, lies, accusations, and twists! My head is still spinning from this roller coaster ride!

Jill and Wendy have been friends and neighbors for a long time. They have shared meals, shared confidences, and watched their children go from babies to teenagers. They have had many good times together until one heartbreaking night when their children went to prom together and only one came home alive. No parent wants to bury their child. No parent wants to have their child be questioned. Tragedy affects relationships and in Wife, Mother, Liar, Jill and Wendy have decided to get together for another girls weekend.

This is the 8th book that I have read by Sue Watson! I know I can always count on her to deliver clever, well thought out, riveting, and twisted psychological thrillers. She delivered yet again with Wife, Mother, Liar! Just when I thought I had a handle on things and knew how things were going to turn out, she blind sighted me with another mind blowing and shocking twist.

I loved the drama, the tension, the hostility, the grudges, and the secrets! I also enjoyed how both women were presented. I could not help but feel for the mother who lost her child and still hoped to get answers. At the same time, I felt for the mother who was protecting her child from finger pointing. This book was like being on a child’s teeter totter at times and on a roller coaster at other times.

Then there is the shock factor. I was shocked more than once while reading this book. I couldn’t help but think: “how very clever of you, Sue Watson!” Fans of psychological thrillers will enjoy this book. I felt a bevy of emotions while reading this book. I love it when a book causes me to feel and to think. This did both. Mainly, it entertained, left my jaw hanging open, and kept my finger turning the pages.

I can’t wait to read what Sue Watson writes next!

The Vanishing Bookstore by Helen Phifer - Blog Tour 1/9/25 @bookouture @helenphifer1

The Vanishing Bookstore by Helen Phifer – Blog Tour 1/9/25 @bookouture @helenphifer1

Helen Phifer has crafted a magical and spellbinding tale about a family of women accused of being witches during the Salem Witch Trials. These women have been cursed to live their lives repeatedly while being hunted by the same diabolical man. Phifer enchanted me with Salem, witches, mystery, a hidden bookstore, and a quest for survival!

Salem, 1692

A young woman accused of being a witch hides a journal in a vine covered bookstore and runs. The bookstore mysterious vanishes and is never seen again.

Present Day

Dora (Isadora) meets the mother she thought was dead. With that meeting she also meets her aunts and learns of the curse that has been on their family since 1692. The family of women have been cursed to be hunted over time and through various lives by George Corwin who originally sought their downfall in in 1692.

This book touches on family, family secrets, memory, witches, history, survival, relationships, and being alive. As Dora learns more and begins to remember, the situation becomes more dire as the women once again try to break the curse.

I enjoyed the writing, the vivid descriptions, the dual timelines, the plot, the awakening of memories, the quest to break a curse, the search for a missing bookstore, and the drive to survive. I would put this book in the lighter witch book. Although it deals with the persecution of those accused of being witches, the book is on the lighter side. There is nothing scary or horrific in the book.

Atmospheric, captivating, and magical!
