Every Last One by Carolyn Arnold – Blog Tour 11/19/25 @bookouture @Carolyn_Arnold
Special Agent Sandra Vos is back in another gripping, suspenseful, twist-filled thriller! This one takes place in Founders Hospital, where the stakes are high and Vos must work against the clock to not only stop the four attackers who have taken over the hospital, but also deal with a personal matter as well. Whew! This was a tense one and I enjoyed every page of it!
The stakes are high as the hospital goes into lockdown, and those four individuals who took over have blocked the cell network. It is a high stakes, high anxiety, high stress situation. Sandra Vos must use all her skills to get a handle on the situation and engage in hostage negations. Carolyn Arnold also throws in a mother whose young daughter needs a lifesaving operation into the mix. This works to pull at readers’ hearts, ramp up the tension, and put stress on Agent Vos and her team.
If you have read the first book in the series, Save Her Life, you know that Agent Sandra Voss is a tough, intelligent, and hard-working hostage negotiator. She is also human, and I enjoyed seeing her vulnerability, her sympathy, her empathy, and ability to relate to others. She keeps her cool in high stress/high stakes situations and has great compartmentalization skills. You must be one tough cookie to do what she does for a living.
Every Last One was wonderfully written, well thought out, perfectly paced, thrilling, shocking, and hard to put down. Once again, Carolyn Arnold put readers and Vos through the ringer. I enjoyed the tension, the suspense, the twists, the mystery, and the mounting danger in this book. I rooted for Vos, felt for many of the characters, and kept my fingers crossed hoping for a resolution before it was too late. I also thought that Carolyn Arnold did a great job showing the desperation of the four attackers. I thought this was very well done.
This is the second book in the Sandra Vos series and would work very well as a stand-alone novel. But as it is only book two, do yourself a favor and go back and read Save Her Life as it is exceptional as well.
Addictive, tense, suspenseful, and wonderfully written! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

The Lifeboat Orphans by Ellie Curzon – Blog Tour 11/14/25 @bookouture @EllieCurzon @MadameGilflurt @helenbarrell
Gripping, moving, riveting, thought provoking, and hard to put down! The writing duo, Catherine Curzon and Helen Barrell, who write as Ellie Curzon have once again dazzled me with their writing and endearing characters in The Lifeboat Orphans: An utterly gripping and heartbreaking World War Two novel! The Blitz kids are back and one again I found myself feeling so many different emotions for them while reading The Lifeboat Orphans: An utterly gripping and heartbreaking World War Two novel. I rooted for them, I worried for them, I cried for them, and I kept my fingers crossed for them. This book highlights the strength of their bonds and friendship, their bravery, their sacrifices, their antics, their hope, their fears, and their unwavering fight for survival.
World War 2 was full of tragedies, deaths, and horrific events. Orphaned children were forced to survive unspeakable horrors. This book begins in London and by the end sees some of the children traveling by ship to America. But between the beginning of the book and the ending, there will be a lot of trials, a lot of struggles, a lot of love, a lot of heartbreak, a lot of hope, and a lot of moving scenes.
If you have not read the first book in the series, The Lost Orphans, I highly recommend it. That introduces you to many of the characters and how the children became known as the Blitz kids. Would this book work as a stand-alone novel? Yes, but do yourself a favor and start at the beginning.
Well researched, wonderfully written, moving, captivating, thought provoking and well thought out!

Run for Her Life by Ruhi Choudhary – Blog Tour 10/30/25 @bookouture @RuhiSChoudhary
Talk about riveting!!!!! Run for Her Life is the second book in the Zoe Storm series and it is fantastic! I loved the tension, the dread, the fast pace, and the investigation work! This book kept me on the edge of my seat and turning the pages! Whew! This book was thrilling, shocking, and overflowing with secrets, twists, and reveals. This book is told through past and present timelines. Usually when there are two different timeliness, I prefer one over the other, but I enjoyed both equally in Run for Her Life.
Special Agent Zoe Storm received a lock of a woman’s hair with an ominous note pointing to a young mom in Pineview Falls. Days later a body of a young woman is found in the woods. Does the hair belong to the victim? Nope! That is not a spoiler, it is in the book’s description. When DNA analysis points to a victim who died in a fire year ago, Zoe is beyond shocked at the revelation. Just when Zoe is puzzling over that, another woman is missing!!!!
Zoe has a lot of work to do in this book, and I was with her every step of the way. I tried to do my best super sleuthing while reading and tried to nail down whodunit. I was not successful, and I love it when that happens. Run for Her Life was equal parts shocking, thrilling, mysterious, chilling, and captivating. I was fully invested and felt as if I was tagging along with Zoe as a silent observer as she worked on this case.
Another solid book in the series! I look forward to reading what comes next in this riveting and hard to put down series! As with the first book in the series, Run for Her Life was well thought out, wonderfully written, gripping, and shocking.
Christmas at the Scottish Lodge by Donna Ashcroft – Blog Tour 10/29/25 @bookouture @Donnashc
Winter in the Scottish Highlands sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? The snow is falling, the sleighbells are ringing, people are drinking cocoa by the fire, some are hitting the slopes, some are ice skating, and some want a divorce! Wait, What???????????? Christmas at the Scottish Lodge is a festive, snow filled, close proximity, second chance romance book! The setting was phenomenal! The book is set in such a lovely winter wonderland full of holiday cheer, fluffy snow, and warm fireplaces. Too bad there is an avalanche – an avalanche of feelings when Mairi becomes snowed in with her ex, Jed Murray. They were madly in love once; will the magic of the season see them falling in love again????
I enjoy Donna Ashcroft’s writing, her well thought out plots, her choice of beautiful settings, and her likeable characters. With romance books, it is all about the journey for me. I enjoyed the journey that both Mairi and Jed went on in Christmas at the Scottish Lodge. There were many times I wanted to pull each aside and say “communicate, communicate, communicate!!!”
Snow is not the only things swirling through the air, secrets are swirling through the air as well. Not to be left out, there is tension and longing swirling through the air as well. I rooted for both characters as they as they both traveled along on their individual and joined journeys. I enjoyed their banter, their determination, and their knee jerk reactions to emotional moments.
Charming, wonderfully written, well thought out, and festive!

The Porcelain Menagerie by Jillian Forsberg – Blog Tour 10/23/25 @ForsbergJillian #Historythroughfiction
Jillian Forsberg grabbed my attention with her first book, The Rhino Keeper, and she wowed me once again with her wonderfully written, intriguing characters, intricate plots, attention to detail, and vivid descriptions. I had both the book and audiobook versions of The Porcelain Menagerie and I highly recommend both. The audiobook is wonderfully narrated by Caroline Hewit.
The Porcelain Menagerie is told in two timelines and is gripping, thought provoking, and interesting. This work of historical fiction is based on real life king, Augustus II the Strong who was the King of Poland. It was obvious that the author did a tremendous amount of research in the writing of this book. Her eye for detail is obvious and made this book even more fascinating.
This book has many characters ranging from Fatima,aTurkish handmaiden, who has been taken from her family to replace one of King Augustus’s mistresses. She has a love of animals and has a collection of exotic animals who bring her happiness as she navigates her new life at court. There is Johann Kändler, an artist who the King wants/demands to make him a porcelain menagerie.
The two timelines make up this story that highlight power, art, survival, love, lust, and porcelain. Readers should note that there are some things in this book which will be hard to read. The norms and practices of past times was not always pretty. For instance, “fox tossing” is what you imagine it might be. If you want to skip that part, don’t read Chapter 30. The author was very honest and open about that being a difficult chapter to read and let readers know it can be skipped to avoid some upsetting scenes. Plus, women did not have the rights that they have today and were viewed as property.
In short, I found this book to be wonderfully written, well thought out, gripping, and thought provoking. I enjoyed the vivid descriptions, the plot, and how this book had me turning to the internet to find out more. I love when a book causes me to feel, think, and educates me.
